What is the Computer Clubhouse?

The Fitzroy Computer Clubhouse offers disadvantaged young people (ages 9 to 18) from inner-city neighbourhoods of Melbourne the opportunity to work on meaningful projects using computers and technology. The program provides support and resources for young people to pursue their interests and build upon their skills.

The Clubhouse relies on Volunteer Mentors with specialist computer skills to work with disadvantaged children in an educational context. It is a challenging, fulfilling and rewarding experience.

As a mentor you will: Participate in one afternoon session per week from 3.30pm-6.30 pm or 5-7.00pm. Assist with the initiation of new ideas & planning of projects. Encourage the students to 'learn' through design in a fun and creative space. Attend a monthly Professional Development Session to share ideas, workshop and participate in training.

Community Networking gives you the fantastic opportunity to meet newly arrived people from all over the world. Teach the ESL and be a support person as they settle into and learn about their new culture. Seven weeks compulsory training.
